Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of crusty French bread
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • a couple of garlic cloves, minced
  • a splash of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • a pinch of salt
  • a sprinkle of chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and a splash of olive oil until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Tip: For extra flavor, let the butter mixture sit for 10 minutes before spreading.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread, followed by a pinch of salt.
  6. Place the bread on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy. Tip: Keep an eye on it after 8 minutes to avoid burning.
  7. Once out of the oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh contrast. Tip: For a ghostly effect, use a kitchen torch to lightly char the edges.
