Welcome to The Altered Goddess

Hello,

I established The Altered Goddess many years ago as a concept based in Witchcraft.  I am the creator of this site.  Welcome!!

Ok, be warned! I'm a bit of a nerd and not very exciting so buckle up kiddos, here we go!

I'm Stephanie Earl. My Craft name is Sorcha Luxapalila Feilnar. As of February 26, 2026, I turned 56 years old. I live in Mississippi. I am a divorced mother of 4 adult children and a granny to three fabulous little human beings, also granny to several furbabies.

I was a florist by trade, I've been a weaver, I'm still a mixed media art creative and an amature writer. I've been blessed to have several articals published in Pagan magazines.    I write on Witchcraft and Pagan topics as well as Witchy slice of life.

I love all kinds of fur babies especially cats, dogs, and Guinea Pigs. I love plants and anything Witchy.

I like many different kinds of music, but Dahm the Bard, Chantress Seba, Vittorio Gringolo(opra tenor), Fleetwood Mac and Lorenna McKinnet are my favs.  I also like some good 70's and 80's rock. I love some jazz, zydeco and Mary J. Blige.

I'm a big nerd. I used to love to read but my eyes are in bad shape now. I still read but have to take lots of breaks.

I enjoy a good action flick, like The Transformers, Gozilla, Star Trek and Fast and Furious franchises. And I love, love, love all things Tolkien!!

I don't think I was ever really scared of coming out of the broom closet except when people who knew me, but didn't know I was a Witch, found out...in a newspaper artical of all places! I just knew my family would be shunned. I was more worried about them than myself. But no one was crashing, rude or hateful. It turned out to be a pleasant experience.

I see Divinity everywhere and in everything and everyone. I work with Divinity in order to supplement and improve my Craft.

My patron God is Cernunnos. He appears to me as a slim but muscular man with long hair, beard and antlers. He is very viral, yet gentle. He is followed by the most beautiful old stag with a massive rack and smaller animals, following as if they know they are loved.

My patron Goddess is Cerridwen. She appears with Her hawks on Her shoulder and the white sow at Her feet.
She is all knowing and is inspiration itself, waking my artist muse.

I also honor Hvashi is the Choctaw People's Moon Mother Goddess. Her long black hair flying loose behind Her as She flies on Her giant owl through the sky, Her light forever chasing Her husband, the Sun. She brought marriage, song, dance, and prayer to the people. I have meditated and found Hvashi, shining bright.

Quan Yin and the Buddha are also important to me. I honor Them also.

I believe everyone carries the Divine within them. We are of God and Goddess no matter our gender. I believe Divinity is all around us, permeating everything, the wind, the rain, the soil, the down of the bird, the pounding feet of the wolves on the hunt. There are so many ways to connect with the Divine.

I view Magick as the ability to apply your energy and intention to a situation and affect the outcome.

Many of my immediate family are Witches.

People often ask, " What is your favorite herb and why? Without a doubt it is black pepper!

Coming up with new and original magickal formulary is my favorite past time. I love the research it requires. Original spells and Ritual Salts are my very favorite things to create.

My family's Circle family is Clan Evergreen, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. We are a family friendly Circle of Eclectic Witches. Many solitary Witches and their families join our rituals.  Our get-to-gathers it was a wonderful time for me, personally. The closeness of so many solitaries, children running and playing, and working together to attain a magickal goal.

I was raised to the Priestesshood in 2014 by my Circle family and the solitaries who joined us regularly. I served as Priestess and clergy for Clan Evergreen and the Pagan community where I lived.  I became involved with Pagan Pride Day and served as ritual officiant for the group rituals for a few years. I have been teaching Witchcraft for 30 years.

But time changes all things, and unfortunately, I chose to stand aside from those positions because of my health. I felt this was the best thing to do for myself and the people I served.

How I Got Here

I walked away from the Southern Baptist church at 6 years of age. I told my parents I didn't like it and they didn't make me go back. I started spending alot of my time with my great-grandmother who started teaching me about herbs and how to listen to the Earth. When she passed away I was left wanting. So when I reached the age of 16, I started teaching myself about Witchcraft.

I learned a lot of things on my own, learned alot of magick from the whole spectrum of dark to light. But I eventually began to practice gray magick exclusively. Gray magick is a combination of light and dark intent.  It made me feel good everytime helped someone in a dangerous or violent situation with dark intent. It made me feel good when I helped someone in need of help with a Regular situation as well!  I realized I could get good results with gray magick.

When I turned 30, I went to my first Wiccan event and met my Wiccan mentor there. She taught me about Wicca and the Witchcraft that was based on its principles and beliefs.  My mentor passed away several years ago but I can still feel her with me.  I'm no longer Wiccan. The gray magick was a part of me after practicing it for so long. It was balanced.

I think this is a good place to mention something about the nature of magick...magick is, in fact, neutral. It is neither white or black.  It is the intention and energy of the practioner that causes it to be negative or positive, black or white, dark or light.  I still feel most of my magick is positive. I don't do dark intentions until I have proof of violence or danger. I'm not hexing someone just because they're dating your ex. And there are some spells I won't do or deal in because they are way off into the land of dark intent. I do have my limitations due to my personal ethics and principles.

Ive been a practicing Solitary Witch since I was 16. It is who I am at my core.  Ive always tried to keep my magick balanced. I am happy with the magickal part of my life. Although being in the nursing home limits what I can have and do. Being a Pagan Witch  means I can be myself. The belief system of the type of magickal practice I follow has added to and enhanced my life.I try to keep the magick I practice balanced and I feel it gives structure to my life.  I do live my life in a balanced way. I accept where my life needs work and I work on it. I hope to be a positive part of a chaotic world.

My Life Now

I'm A permanent resident of a nursing home, which is kinda weird at 56. But it is a very nice facility.

I've had several strokes and have lesions on my brain resulting in a lot of changes for me.

Having had a stroke and receiving a diagnosis of leukoaraiosis, my memory is in rapid decline. Now I rely upon my B.O.S. and research materials to remind me what I've forgotten for spell writing and casting.
My very favorite magickal practice is the development of original spells and their component formulary.

I am still learning new things and am currently learning runes and the tarot. That's one of the wonderful things about this Path, there is always something new to learn.

I built a Wickerman for the kindred to fill with their offerings, prayers and needs. After he was filled and sealed, a blood offering from my hand was rubbed on his chest. He was then set ablaze and a lit steak plunged in his heart as the dragon was summoned!

And he came!!
