VARIOUS KINDS OF DIVINATION

Divination is the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.

There are many, many kinds of divination techniques.
We will cover a few of their terms here.

Mediumship or channeling – The ability to communicate with spirits. Some mediums can often receive messages about the future.

Clairvoyance — The ability to see things and events that are happening far away, and locate objects, places, people, using a sixth sense.

Prophecy — the ability to foretell events, without using induction or deduction from known facts.

Precognition (including psychic premonitions) – The ability to perceive or gain knowledge about future events, without using induction or deduction from known facts.

Automatic Writing-Automatic writing is an old form of divination in which messages seem to come out of nowhere through your hand and onto paper.

Tarot & Oracle Cards-Tarot is a form of divination that uses special cards. The true purpose is to tap into your intuition to see what is falling away, what is working for you now and how to manifest your goals.

Runes-are stones, crystals, wooden coins or other small objects that have been engraved with runic symbols, which are cast and interpreted.

Tasseography is a divination or fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments.

Dowsing – The ability to locate water, sometimes using a tool called a dowsing rod.

Astrology-involves the forecasting of earthly and human events through the observation and interpretation of the fixed stars, the Sun, the Moon, and the planets.

Charm Casting-Charm Casting is a form of divination that uses charms, trinkets or small objects. The charms are cast/thrown onto a casting surface, and where and how they land is then interpreted to receive intuitive messages.

  Chiromancy/Palmistry -- palm reading or hand prediction is to learn a person’s personalities, fortune and future by analyzing his/her hands. 

Pendulums-A pendulum works by tapping into your intuition and sixth sense. The pendulum acts as a form of receiver and transmitter, from your higher guidance, guardian angels and spiritual teachers. As the pendulum moves, you gain answers in response to questions – it is best suited to use to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions.

Dowsing- dowsing refers in general to the practice of suing a forked stick, rod, pendulum, or similar device to locate underground water, minerals, or other hidden or lost substances.

Crystal Balls-a crystal or glass ball commonly used in fortune-telling. It is generally associated with the performance of clairvoyance and scrying in particular. Remember, many very clear or colored balls . glass. Natural Quartz balls have a cloudy look  or occlusions.

I-Ching has been practiced in Chinese cultured for at least three or four thousand years.  The I Ching (Book of Changes) is an ancient Chinese classic, revered as the "source of the great Dao" and the "foremost among the classics." It encompasses a vast array of subjects, including life, politics, economics, literature, art, and law, making it a cornerstone of Chinese civilization. Regarded as the origin of Chinese culture, the I Ching serves as the foundation of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism, influencing all Chinese philosophical thought. It is often considered the wellspring from which all other classical Chinese teachings flow.

Augury-augury, prophetic divining of the future by observation of natural phenomena—particularly the behaviour of birds and animals and the examination of their entrails and other parts, but also by scrutiny of man-made objects and situations.

Cleromancy- is simply the act of throwing objects with special meanings for the purpose of divining the future or providing answers.

Geomancy-geomancy is a method of divination that interprets markings on the ground or the patterns formed by tossed handfuls of soil, rocks, or sand.

Hydromancy-also called Water Scrying. It is a very popular method of scrying and involves the use of water.

Somatomancy-Somatomancy is a form of divination by observing a body.

Oneiromancy-the interpretation of dreams in order to foretell the future.

Osteomancy--Divination by throwing bones to gain a messages and guidance

Catoptromancy - Mirror Scrying Mirrors are easy to make, and easily transportable, so they’re a very practical scrying tool. Typically, a scrying mirror has a black backing on it, which allows for better reflective properties. Scrying mirrors can help us unveil hidden knowledge and aid in clairvoyance, and remote viewing.

Fire Disciplines 

  *Pyromancy-also called Fire scrying. It is exactly what it sounds like—staring into the flames of a fire to see what sort of visions might appear.

  *Anthracomancy scrying of glowing coals

  *Lychnomancy- Candle scrying, is an ancient form of divination where the movement, shape, and behavior of a candle flame reveal spiritual messages, insight, and guidance.

  *Capnomancy or Turifumy- Smoke Scrying
